Working to change the lives of vulnerable and homeless people in Bristol
Caring in Bristol is a charitable company which delivers and develops vital support to homeless and vulnerable people all year round in the city of Bristol through effective, volunteer driven projects. We are committed to working jointly with other charities and associations to tackle the causes and effects of homelessness. Our dynamic volunteer-led social action projects can deliver long-term benefits for many vulnerable and homeless people.
Over the last 25 years our predecessor charity Caring at Christmas has supported hundreds of people during the Christmas period. During this time thousands of volunteers have worked with us and we have become a well known organisation in the city. We currently work with around 700 volunteers at Christmas time, a growing community of Bristol Nightstop Hosts, as well as office and fundraising volunteers who support our work all year round.
Caring at Christmas Ltd was incorporated in February 2013 as the successor charity to Caring at Christmas. The demand for our work was growing (and continues to do so) along with our organisational structure, and in 2013 the trustees decided that an incorporated charity was the most appropriate structure to support our future work.
In July 2013, the trustees changed the name and structure of the charity to Caring in Bristol Ltd. The main reason for changing the name of the charity has been to ensure that the name reflects the work that we are doing all year round, not just the work that we do during the Christmas period. This puts us in a better position to develop our work in the future and to influence the agenda in Bristol to support vulnerable and homeless people in the city.
This bi-annually updated publication is a point of reference for anyone who has become – or is at risk of becoming – homeless in the Bristol area. It also helps statutory agencies and other voluntary organisations in providing useful information to assist them in helping homeless people.
