CARING AT CHRISTMAS MOVING FORWARD SAFELY

COVID UPDATE FROM OUR CARING AT CHRISTMAS PROJECT MANAGER

CARING AT CHRISTMAS MOVING FORWARD SAFELY – COVID UPDATE FROM OUR CARING AT CHRISTMAS PROJECT MANAGER

Caring in Bristol wanted to update our supporters on our plans regarding our Caring at Christmas Project and the developing Covid situation.

As you’ll be aware, Covid-19 numbers are on the rise across Bristol and there is uncertainty regarding what restrictions may be put in place over the coming weeks.

Throughout this, Caring in Bristol strongly believe that we should offer the same opportunities to our guests as are available across the rest of the Bristol community. Food, warmth and companionship.

To accommodate this vital need we have staggered plans in place enabling us to dynamically switch how we are operating our Day Centre service this year. This provides us with the ability to adapt to central and local government advice with pace if needed. We have been working with the Public Health and Environmental Health departments of Bristol City Council to ensure that we operate to the safest standards possible, while still providing a crucial service for Bristol’s vulnerable communities over the Christmas period.

We have made the decision to adapt some of the activity and entertainment elements of the Day Centre which pose a higher risk of possible transmission, and this will free up further space to allow for social distancing. We will continue to provide a safe, warm and welcoming space for our guests to enjoy hot food, drinks, watch a film or relax. We’ll be operating at a reduced capacity with plans for utilising the outdoor space to accommodate this.

We are constantly monitoring the Covid-19 situation in Bristol and following government guidelines.

The wellbeing of our guests, volunteers and staff consistently remains at the forefront of all of our decision making and our plans will adapt as we follow government guidance and assess potential risks.

Our Meal Delivery and hamper service to over 150 people in temporary and emergency accommodation will remain unchanged across the 24th to the 26th December.

Our amazing volunteers are absolutely integral to the running of our service, so they deserve a special mention for supporting us as plans change and unfold. Thank you for our commitment to this vital work, we can’t support those who are homeless this Christmas without you.

We look forward to working alongside you over Christmas, please let us know if you have any questions,

Mike
