TAP turns two!

Your impact to date - and what's next

TAP for Bristol marks its second birthday this week.

Reading time: one minute

The contactless donation scheme is a partnership between Caring in Bristol, Bristol City Centre BID, and Redcliffe & Temple BID created to give generous Bristolians a secure, novel, way of giving money to help solve homelessness in our city.

TAP for Bristol is unique in that it raises money for both homelessness prevention and emergency support. 100% of each contactless ‘tap’ going directly to supporting those who need it.

The project in numbers

To date, the people of Bristol have raised over £46,000 from more than 15,000 individual taps, and there are now 18 TAP Points across Bristol.

All money raised is divided equally between our homelessness prevention partnership and small grants to other organisations working with those experiencing homelessness, such as Second Step and St Mungo’s.

“That TAP for Bristol has been so impactful over two short years is a testament to the compassion of the people of Bristol. We’re grateful for everyone who has donated so far and to all the businesses who have stepped up to host a TAP Point” says Caring in Bristol’s Director Ben Richardson.

Funding upstream support

£20,000 of the money raised to so far has been committed to up-stream homelessness prevention that will be undertaken by Caring in Bristol and with CHAS Bristol . This work will be informed by research to make it relevant to the needs of Bristol’s communities and residents. Through a combination of community outreach and 1-2-1 support the project will reach people early, before a potential housing crisis occurs.
