Are you a FundRaver?

Ravers2Runners are not just taking steps towards finding solutions for homelessness in Bristol, they’re running them! Founded by Jo Bryan-Smith, the group began with a weekly run around Bristol Harbourside with just a few people who had started to run more and rave less. Running provided an exhilarating outlet, with a shared bond based on music, community, and… FUNDRAVING!

Dry Run for January 2024

Now that Ravers2Runners (R2R) has grown, they’ve not just found a new balance to life, but also a vision for a better future for our city. This is why they’ve been organising annual FundRavers to support causes they are passionate about. And we’re very excited to say that they will be supporting Caring in Bristol this year with a dry run – R2R has teamed-up with Arbor Ales, so if you join the run, you’ll be able to sample their alcohol-free drinks in each venue.

We caught up with Jo to talk to her about the event that she’s hard at work organising. After successful events in Glastonbury, Amsterdam, and around the city, this event is an exciting chance for people in Bristol to run together. Could it be you?

Inclusive and Fun

Jo explains, “It’s an inclusive fun run for small teams and solo runners that takes in some of Bristol’s best loved pubs, bars, and venues in a challenge that supports positive sober sessions without the need to compromise on good times with friends old and new! The R2R Dry Run event happens on Saturday 27th January and is an inclusive fun run for small teams and solo runners that takes in some of Bristol’s best loved pubs, bars, and venues in a challenge that supports positive sober sessions without the need to compromise on good times with friends old and new!”

Explore, Taste, Run, & Rave

“Runners are encouraged to share their location,” says Jo, “and journey around the participating venues on social media, giving a well-earned boost to some of the city’s cherished social hubs.”

Many people will know that Jo is from JBS Fitness and an enthusiastic and supportive professional personal trainer, so runners will be in good hands when she kicks off the event with a warm-up at Bristol’s much-loved music and arts venue, Lost Horizon. As runners progress to each venue, they’ll be given simple challenges to add to the fun, before returning to Lost Horizon where local DJs will create the soundtrack to a raving warm-down. And if you haven’t heard their stunning sound system – it’s definitely time for you to rave on!

Jo tells us that she’s expecting it to be great fun for those taking part, “There is an entry fee which is donated to Caring in Bristol which also includes a tote goody bag designed by local artist Yee Poon. There will also be prizes for the most creative, quickest and raviest teams. You don’t need to be a regular runner to join in, there will be plenty of time and access for all abilities.”
