Creative Collaborations

Solving homelessness in Bristol involves the whole of the city. A growing number of caring businesses here agree, including two much-loved independent businesses who have not only collaborated with us, but also with each other. Award winning restaurant COR and private hire firm Veezu are now raising vital funds and awareness to help deliver our mission, and deepen the impact of their efforts by working together.

Connections

COR, a family run business led by Karen and Mark, have already won the Michelin Bib Gourmand award. Shortly after opening last year they hosted a Belly Laughs comedy fundraiser gig, introducing customers to outstanding food and hearty laughs. Additional funds were raised when the COR team asked us to choose a special dish each month; donating 50p from each dish led to over £620 being raised. All this connects their customers to the need for action against homelessness in Bristol.

This is something that Veezu were ambitious to achieve. Veezu prides itself as the UK’s fastest growing taxi and private hire technology platform and in 2022 saw astonishing success as they helped passengers complete an average of one ride every two seconds; a popularity which has been built on efficiency and excellent partnerships with local drivers. Veezu reached out to Caring in Bristol and wanted to expand on their growing community support through a partnership that will see the company provide £3,000 worth of funding.

Partnership

Caring in Bristol’s partnership with Veezu will see the company donate on a monthly basis through a joint campaign with some of Bristol’s favourite restaurants who already work with Caring in Bristol. COR will be the first, with £2 per ride from passenger’s journeys to the restaurant will support our work. Customers who choose Veezu as their choice of travel to and from COR during the month and select COR’s pink fir potatoes plate leads to a £4.50 donation without it costing them any extra.

Veezu South West’s regional director, Jack Price, tells us, “We’re very proud to be able to announce our partnership with Caring in Bristol and COR for the month of August.  This scheme will see significant funds donated to support the vital work Caring in Bristol does in our community, whilst also hopefully encouraging people to support local businesses wherever they can. Our motto is: when you ride, your community thrives.”

We know that collaborations like this are strong win-win situations. It supports our work to stop homelessness in its tracks, engages the city in conversations about the realities of homelessness, and enables businesses to express their desire to make Bristol a better place to live for its customers and the wider population. Caring in Bristol’s Director, Ian Byworth, explains, “As we face a housing crisis, the support from caring companies like Veezu and COR makes a significant difference. It means we can do even more work to stop homelessness in its tracks, which is appreciated by the entire staff team.”

Unique and valued

Every partnership with Caring in Bristol is unique and valued by us. Our Corporate and Community Partnerships Coordinator, Luke, says, “As a local charity, every partner is special. We never enter a new relationship with a corporate partner thinking what does this mean for us. Instead we work collaboratively and explore what we can achieve together. When Veezu first contacted Caring in Bristol I was very excited to explore how we could work to support each other with a team that were very clearly committed to helping to support the charity’s work and the local community.”
