“I know I need to do stuff for housing, benefits and the solicitor but I can’t get myself there and get myself into a position when I can talk to people and I’m finding everything really, really hard at the moment.”
The Common is a new project from Caring in Bristol, working with young people aged 16-25 who need support with multiple and severe difficulties.
You can read all about The Common here (Last updated July 2020):
We run weekly drop ins in the city centre with our experienced staff team. Currently you can find us at:
Chill Out Space, The Station, Silver Street – Tuesdays 2-4pm
Our drop-in has sofas, a table tennis table, and garden area. It is a comfortable safe space offering a warm welcome, food, music and art activities and support from our team of experienced youth workers.
The Common also offers one-to-one relationship based support work. We assist young people with both practical help, such as accessing benefit entitlements, and also vital emotional support from a trusted adult. Our criteria for working with young people is intentionally very broad. We hope young people see us as an open door for support and a warm welcome.

“I don’t like getting into the more intense stuff straight away, I’d rather wait until I feel more comfortable to open up, because not everyone is comfortable to open up right away.”
